The Karachi Port handled 169,134 tonnes of cargo comprising 140,856 tonnes of import cargo and 28,278 tonnes of export cargo including 7,378 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 140,856 tonnes comprised of 47,027 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,837 tonnes of general cargo; 34,858 tonnes of bulk cargo: 25,055 tonnes of coal; 2,645 tonnes of seeds; 7,158 tonnes of fertilizer and 51,134 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 28,278 tonnes comprised of 23,786 tonnes of containerised cargo; 692 tonnes of general cargo and 3,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,378 containers comprising of 3,629 containers import and 3,749 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,062 of 20's and 1,041 of 40's loaded while 231 of 20's and 127 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 647 of 20's and 287 of 40's loaded containers while 808 of 20's and 860 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were nine ships namely Maliakos, Seaspan Lahore, Sima Genesis, Xin Nan Tong, Morning Glory, Thor Monadic, Dream Beauty, BBC Arizona and BBC Challenger carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle, coal, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. Wan Hai-511 and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely Bow Diamond and TS Delta carrying containers and steel respectively on Friday, while three ships namely Bellavia, Polo and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.

There were five vessels Bochem Ghent, Greener, Glovis Captain, Erlyne and Global Genesis carrying oil tanker, coal, vehicle and steel respectively due to arrive on Friday while five vessels viz. Chemroute Pegasus, Aziz Torlak, Pacific Bless, Wang DA and Chang Hang Hao carrying oil tankers, chemical, coal, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 158,494 tonnes comprising 123,952 tonnes of import cargo and 34,542 tonnes of export cargo including 3,029 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 123,952 tonnes includes 48,705 tonnes of furnace oil; 2,238 tonnes of LPG; 4,000 tonnes of chemical; 3,400 tonnes of soyabean; 42,600 tonnes of coal and 23,845 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 34,542 tonnes includes 34,542 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,029 containers comprising of 1,211 containers import and 1,818 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely MV YM Miranda carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant, Iris-II and MT M. Lion carrying containers, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Indus, CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV APL Miami, MV YM Miranda, MV Asia Emerald-II, MV Iris-II, MV Iris Oldendorff, MT Gas Esco and MT M. Lion currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, chemical, coal, soyabean. LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen ships namely CV Tucapel, MV Dione, MV RB Edon, MV MR Arcturus, MV Rui Ning-2, MV Freedom Line, MT Globe Tanya, MT Gas Pian Gas, MT DL Navig-8, MT Formosa, MT Silver Philipa, MT Bneinder, MT Zem Gale, MT Spruce-2 and MT Sovereign carrying containers, soyabean, canola, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four vessels viz. CV Maersk Izmir, CV Tucapel, MV Dione and MT Sovereign carrying containers, soyabean and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were four ships namely CV Maersk Izmir, CV MSC Messina, CV MSC Al-Ghero and MV Chang Ming carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Vergina and CV TG Poseidon carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
